Changes

Well, here it is a new year, with new chances, new hope, and a brand new spirit of togetherness.
It's hard to believe ( but do believe...) in mere hours American will begin to turn the page and give a new man of the people a try.
I can't get over that finally in my lifetime we will have the first African American President of the good ol' US.
In my senior year in school (many many moons ago...), the dean of students sat all of us down and began to explain why we should strive to be the best that we could. He told us that in our lifetime we would see a person who looks just like us become President.
The very first thought that came to my head was, YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING,THAT WILL NEVER EVER HAPPEN!!!
Glad to say now that I can eat those words.
The truth is though, that I feel optomistic for alot of reasons. My life seems to be going in the direction that I've always sought.
This year, I am finally going to work on my first solo CD. It took me a really long time to realize that I was worth the effort, and that I had just as good a chance as anyone else...why not try.
I have spent so many years going through changes that I felt like giving up and in fact I gave in.
Last year I spent an overabundance of time being sick. Instead I got sick and tired because I wasn't reaching my potential.
With the election of Obama, yes it is real...came a sense that I too could make a difference; and this year I am going to set out to change my life.
I heard this song on the radio not too long ago, and it also helped me to realize that my potential has been in me all along:
David Bowie Changes:
I still don't know what I was waiting for
And my time was running wild A million dead-end streets
Every time I thought I'd got it made
It seemed the taste was not so sweet
So I turned myself to face me
But I've never caught a glimpse
Of how the others must see the faker
I'm much too fast to take that test
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-ChangesDon't want to be a richer man
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-ChangesJust gonna have to be a different man
Time may change me
But I can't trace time
It's time for me, it's right for me, so folks watch out for me, and keep me in your prayers.
Happy New Year.

CDT,

Happy B'day man. U da best.

Mr. Magic (Roberta) ain't got nothin' on you... somethin' in your style.

In this time when we can truly sing, "you haven't done nothin'" you are about the business of doin' somethin'.

You've never lacked courage in your life and I see that fire has only been fanned by these "last days and times" (EWF)

Keep your head to the sky my brother. I still love you more than chocolate milk, I love you more than diamonds furs and silk (Larry Grahm.

I can hardly wait to see what you become. All I know is that one day I hope to become a little like you. Rub off on my bro...rub off.

KJ
